Some sites call for a tent that does not look like a tent. The glass-wall orangery answers that brief. It borrows the proportions of a Victorian glasshouse, with tempered glass curtain walls set into slim aluminium mullions and a gable ridge that reads as permanent architecture rather than a marquee. Heritage estates, garden trusts and boutique hotels use it when the client wants the romance of a conservatory but cannot build one. Because it can be glazed, insulated and heated, it works across all four seasons instead of being packed away each autumn.
Why designers pick this model
- Tempered glass curtain walls in slim mullions recreate authentic orangery lines
- 6061 T6 aluminium frame keeps the structure light while carrying the glazing loads
- Full clear-span interior, glazed or part-glazed, for unrestricted layouts
- Four-season ready with insulated panels and HVAC for cold-weather events
- Retro detailing available - lattice doors, ironwork trim and patterned mullions
- Reads as permanent architecture, ideal where a marquee would look out of place
Available Sizes & Customisation
Spans from 9m to 30m with length in 5m bays. Choose glazed or part-glazed walls, glazing colour, mullion profile, doors and lining; we match heritage references on request.

- Four-season orangery dining rooms for boutique hotels
- Luxury VIP lounges and brand showrooms on estate grounds
- Garden party venues that stay open through autumn and winter
We developed this line after repeated requests from estates that wanted conservatory character without planning permission for a permanent building - it is a genuine gap in the market.

What buyers ask us
Is the glass safe for events?
We use tempered safety glass in the curtain walls, which breaks into small blunt fragments rather than shards, meeting the usual venue safety expectations.
Can it be used all year?
Yes. With insulated roof panels, glazed walls and a heating or cooling supply, it runs comfortably in every season - which is the whole point of choosing glass over fabric.
How close can it look to a real conservatory?
The frame is dressed with mullion covers, retro lattice doors and trim, so from the garden it reads as a glasshouse, while the inside still gives you the floor area of an event tent.
What is the minimum order?
One set.
Do you help with planning or heritage requirements?
We supply drawings and specifications you can submit; for sensitive heritage sites we can provide detailed sections and finish samples.
What are the delivery and payment terms?
Made-to-order in 20-30 working days after a 30% T/T deposit, balance before shipment; L/C and Trade Assurance accepted.
How is the glass shipped safely?
Glass panels are crated in reinforced plywood with foam edge protection, and the frame ships in separate bundles with a clear loading plan.
About the maker
Tendars matched the mullion profiles to period references so the structure sits comfortably beside listed buildings instead of clashing with them.
Structure & Space
- Clear-span gable (A-frame) design - no interior column, so the whole floor stays open.
- Span range 3-60m; length extends without limit in 3m and 5m bays.
- 100% usable space - banquet rounds, a runway or a stage can be arranged freely, with no sightline blocked.
Frame & Materials
- 6061-T6 hard pressed extruded aluminium, anodised or fluorocarbon finish; hot-dip galvanised steel connectors.
- About one third the weight of steel - corrosion free, paint free, re-installable again and again.
- Frame life of 15-20 years under normal use, with spare parts kept available.
Roof & Wall Fabric
- Roof 850 g/sqm and sidewall 650 g/sqm double PVC, heat sealed rather than stitched.
- Flame retardant to DIN 4102 B1 / M2 and NFPA 701; waterproof, UV resistant, rated -30 to +70 deg C.
- The DIN 4102 B1 fire test report matters more than any brochure image - it is the hard requirement for large event fire approval.
Enclosure Upgrades
- Standard on the glass model: tempered glass curtain walls with glass doors.
- Alternatives: PVC soft wall, ABS hard wall, or insulated sandwich panel wall.
- Benefit: far more premium than soft PVC, usable as a semi-permanent building, able to connect to an existing building, with better acoustics and insulation.
Wind, Snow & Fixing
- Design wind load 100-120 km/h (Beaufort 10-12); snow load 0.3-0.5 kN/sqm.
- Three fixing methods: grass ground anchors, concrete expansion bolts, or marble counterweight plates.
- A lawn can be used without breaking its surface; the other two methods cover concrete and hard standing.
Integrated Fit-out
- Flooring system, air conditioning, lighting hanging points, and ceiling or curtain drapes.
- Rain gutters carry drainage away where tents are joined side by side.
- Delivered as a turnkey package - the suspended light fittings and long tables seen in banquet photos are a typical ready-to-use set.
Delivery & Assembly
- Modular socket-and-bolt assembly with no welding on site.
- Roughly 1,000 sqm assembles in 4-8 hours.
- Production 15-25 days - friendly to tight event schedules, and equally suitable as a permanent building.
What serious buyers check before they order
Ranked by the weight each point carries in the decision:
- Safety & compliance. A third-party fire test report (not a verbal flame-retardant claim), wind and snow load calculations, whether the glass is tempered or laminated and its thickness, whether design loads match the city basic wind pressure, and whether a temporary building needs permits. For large events, standards such as DIN 4102 B1 are non-negotiable.
- Site suitability. Ground type (grass, concrete, marble or asphalt) decides the fixing and whether building is possible at all; also confirm site dimensions, slope, buried services and tree pits, and access width for cranes or forklifts. On grass, check wet-season bearing capacity and drainage.
- How the price is quoted. Per square metre or per set; whether freight, installation, dismantling and foundation work are included; how much more glass costs than PVC; whether flooring, HVAC and lights are extra; the MOQ; and buy-versus-rent for short events.
- Lead time against the event countdown. Days from deposit to dispatch, transit time, on-site build time and a bad-weather fallback - the real fear is a tent that is not up the day before the event.
- How a banquet tent actually feels. Glass houses build up greenhouse heat, so cooling load must be doubled and shading or Low-E glass added; rain noise on the roof; ventilation and insects; whether the clear height suits hung chandeliers (4m eave height or more is best for banquets); and floor flatness and whether a wooden floor system is needed.
- Appearance and branding. Transparent versus blockout roof, glass versus fabric walls, fabric colour, and whether logos can be printed to match the venue.
- Warranty and long-term cost. Frame warranty period, the cost of replacing covers after 5-8 years, long-term spare-part supply, on-site technician support and storage after dismantling.
- Supplier backing. ISO 9001 / CE / SGS certification, comparable banquet project references, factory visits and export experience.
More questions buyers ask
Is there a third-party fire test report?
Yes. The fabric is tested to DIN 4102 B1 / M2 and NFPA 701, and we supply the wind and snow load calculation sheets with each order - the documents large-event fire approval usually asks for.
Can it be installed on grass without damaging it?
Yes. We use grass ground anchors or counterweight plates so the lawn surface stays intact; on concrete we use expansion bolts. Send site photos and we plan the fixing method before quoting.
How much more does a glass wall cost than PVC?
Glass is a real upgrade over PVC soft wall, so the difference is meaningful. Give us your sizes and we quote both versions side by side so you can compare directly.
How fast can it be ready for an event?
Stock ships in 3-5 days; made-to-order production runs 15-25 days plus transit. On site, about 1,000 sqm assembles in 4-8 hours, so a tight event calendar is workable.
Can you handle installation on site?
We provide full drawings and an assembly video, and can send a technician for larger projects. For repeat venues we train your own crew.
Does it work as a semi-permanent building?
Yes. With insulated sandwich walls, HVAC and a floor system it can run year-round and be connected to an existing building - many clients use it as a seasonal or permanent hall.
